The 2007 for TM has been an important year. Rich of events.
First, the birthday of the company founded in 1977.
A goal coveted by many and achieved by few, an anniversary, the thirtieth.
Lots of road on the back, many difficult exceeded, a future to be planned.
From so long TM was felt the need for something new, a clear signal of a change then called by somebody "generational change", and has arrived.
TM debuts at this 65th motorcycle exhibition, with a new motorcycle. Entirely new, designed and built at its headquarters in Pesaro.
The main news is represented by the fact that TM leaves the steel to switch to aluminium. Yes, the frames of the new TM 2008 is in aluminium!
Nothing unbelievable someone would say. But not for a company of our dimensions. This represents an important step that requires big investments and very clear ideas. But TM technical staff was not afraid, knows what must be done and how to do it.
The idea came about a year and a half ago. It was necessary to demonstrate to our customers and fans that the TM motorcycles are not only good and strong but can also be beautiful, very beautiful.
It begins thus making early studies and design in 3D.
The first frames, those tested by our factory riders, were almost entirely machined from block, with the exception of course of extruded pieces needed to achieve the two flank and double cradle beneath the engine. The choice of most valuable league is not only dictated by the trend that almost all the motorcycles company are following. Reduced weight and increased manageability are, with the great aesthetic result, the central goal. But the new project does not stop at just the frame.
Number plates, radiators shroud, air box, tank, seat and rear fender born from the mind of Gastone Serafini and from the pencil (or rather mouse) of our designers.
Ultimately a completely new look that places TM one of the most beautiful motorcycle on the market, and the comments of the press are proof of this.
New also the linkage and swing-arm while all engines were revised on the basis of experience that our factory riders have gained on all circuits around the world of the season just ended.
Easy to use, good power delivery, handling and performance are just some of the adjectives that fit perfectly with this new jewel born in Italy, even in Pesaro just to be pernickety.
It is a very special moment for Italian motorsport and TM is proud to be a part of it... ... ... ... ... ... ... .... proud to be Italian.
