Blaney - Australian Off Road Championship - 15/16 May 2009
Andy was a little off the pace in the early rounds of Day 1 at Blaney. After making some minor adjustments at the finish of round 3, Andy quickly moved from 5th place in E3 up to a very hard fought 3rd place, and a place on the podium.
Andy says “I had a little problem getting my rhythm going early on the first day, maybe it was the cold. After round 3 I was much more comfortable and posted some good times to move into 3rd place for Day 1, earning me, and my sponsors, more very important AORC points.”
Day 2 started out much better for Andy, he was pulling very fast times and closing the gap to the leader, Brad Williscroft. Unfortunately mid way through round 3 Andy was forced to leave the course to miss a fallen rider and in doing so crashed heavily. Despite this set back Andy was very quick on the day and put himself on the 2nd step of the podium, giving him a 3rd and a 2nd place for the two day event.
Andy’s comments – “I am very disappointed with 2nd place on day 2, I really felt I had the speed to place #1 on the day. The crash I had missing the fallen rider did cause me some problems for a while. I landed heavily on my head, I didn’t knock myself out but I certainly was not “with it” for some minutes.
In all it was a great week ends racing, I would have liked 2 more rounds on day 2, with a little more track time I felt I could have got close enough to worry Wonka for 1st place.
I want to thank again all the sponsors who are supporting me this year, without your help I could not get the results I am enjoying this season.”
