KIRKBY MALLORY (GREAT BRITAIN), 29 May 2009 – One day before the FIM Motocross World Championship action starts on the Mallory Park course, the Grand Prix riders took a bit of time off to discover the surroundings and contribute to the World Environment Day celebration which takes place in the weekend.

Visit at Twycross Zoo
Twycross Zoo, one of the most popular attractions of the Midlands, was visited today by a group of FIM Motocross World Championship riders including Buildbase CCM Racing’s Tom Church, Yamaha Monster Energy Motocross’ Josh Coppins, Kawasaki Racing’s Gareth Swanepoel, Aprilia Racing’s Julien Bill, TM Racing Factory’s Martin Michek. Taking the afternoon off before entering the stiff competition in round seven of the 15 round series on Saturday and Sunday, these factory riders had a real taste of what the area has to offer; moreover they had the chance to feed giraffes and elephants for a unique experience. Other than being a popular destination for British families looking for a fun weekend, the Twycross Zoo also has a professional Education Department whose task is to interpret the zoo for schools, universities and the general public. Moreover Twycross Zoo has a strong Research Department and is keen on supporting researc h in general, particularly if it benefits animal welfare and conservation.
The theme of the visit perfectly suited the weekend’s celebration of the World Environment Day as Miss Motocross also joined the group in the field trip.
